Using Domain Templates in Plesk

Domain Templates are only used for ADDING an additional domain to your control panel account. If you have a single domain hosting plan, then you cannot add domains, so the ADD DOMAINS icon will be unavailable to you, and the discussion of "domain templates" is moot. 3Essentials has EXCELLENT hosting plans which include hosting for 10, 20 or even 50 domains... if you have a single domain plan and are interested in hosting more than one domain, please check our website for more information on our Multi-Domain plans. There is never a charge for upgrading or downgrading your plans, and you can request an ungrade or downgrade at any time by submitting a request to our billing team (mailto:billing@3essentials.com). For those with a multi-domain plan already, continue reading for more details on using domain templates:

For B10/B20 plans, we recommend the client use the B10 or B20 domain templates respectively...those templates are designed to create a domain with 1/10th or 1/20th of the domain resources (disk, transfer) allocated to the Client Account/Hosting Plan respectively. However, yes the client can create his own domain template, and set his own limits... total limits of all domains created will not be allowed to exceed the total disk/transfer limits for the client account.

Important notes:

  • a domain template only sets the limits at the time the domain is created... if you create a domain with domain template XYZ, and then later modify the limits with the template, domains previously created with that template will not be modified... only domains created with that template after it was changed will reflect the new limits associated with that template.  I.e., the template is simply a "preset configuration of limits" that is applied to the domain as it is created; it is not a tool for online management of limits for domains created with that template.
  • An important note: we prevent clients from changing disk limits after they create a domain... however, if a customer needs them changed, they can simply submit a support ticket, and we will do it on their behalf. Just submit a support request saying "change domainA disk limit to XMB, change domainB disk limit to YMB"
