Enabling Audio Support for Terminal Services remote clients |

3Essentials doesn't enable support for audio on Virtual Desktop / Virtual Servers by default to conserve resources on the virtual system, and they are disabled by default in Win2003 and Win2008 for the same reasons. To enable audio, please follow these instructions:
Win2003
- Start -> Run -> and typing entering the following command: services.msc <ENTER>
- Change the Windows Audio service from 'Disabled' to 'Automatic' - and start it
- Go to the 'Terminal Services Configuration/Remote Desktop Services Configuration' section (under Admin tools, under Control Panel)
- Double click on 'RDP-TCP'
- Select the 'Client Settings' tab
- Clear/Uncheck the Audio Mapping check box
- Log off the system and launch your RDP client.
- Before you connect to the system, click the Options button/arrow to expand the RDP session options.
- Click the ‘Local Resources Tab’ and under ‘Remote audio’ click the ‘Settings’ button.
- On the window that pops-up, under ‘Remote audio playback’ click ‘Play on this computer’ and click OK.
- Connect to the virtual machine and you now have sound!
- (quick test, you can use START -> RUN -> c:\windows\media\tada.wav (it may prompt you to configure Media Player for first usage).
Win2008
- Start -> Run -> services.msc
- Change the Windows Audio service from 'Disabled' to 'Automatic' - and start it.
- Lauch the Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration utility by going to START -> RUN/SEARCH -> and typing entering the following command: tsconfig.msc <ENTER>
- On the right-hand pane, double click on 'RDP-TCP'
- Select the 'Client Settings' tab
- Clear/Uncheck the Audio and video playback check box
- Log off the system and launch your RDP client.
- Before you connect to the system, click the Options button/arrow to expand the RDP session options.
- Click the ‘Local Resources Tab’ and under ‘Remote audio’ click the ‘Settings’ button.
- On the window that pops-up, under ‘Remote audio playback’ click ‘Play on this computer’ and click OK.
- Connect to the virtual machine and you now have sound!
