Depending on your email client, and whether it's a desktop or mobile client, your options for accessing your mail and sync'ing mail objects (like calendars, contacts, tasks, etc) will vary. You will potentially have choices between EAS (Exchange ActiveSync), and IMAP (supplemented by CalDAV and CardDAV for calendar and contact sync'ing).
