What ASP.net versions does 3Essentials support, and how do I enable/select/change the version?

Answer:

.NET 2.0, 3.0, and 3.5 SP1, 4.0

• If your hosting plan includes ASP.net, you can check which version is enabled, and change the version if you wish, by following these steps:
  • Log into your control panel (see your Welcome Email for control panel URL and your user/password)
  • click on your domain
  • click on SETUP
  • scroll down to the SERVICES section
  • Check the CHECKBOX for Microsoft ASP.NET Support if it's not checked (3Essentials disables this by default to conserve memory usage).   Select the version of .Net you want, please note the following observations:you want based on the following:
    • .Net 1.1
      • Not available on Windows 2008/IIS 7.x based hosting servers.
        
    • .Net 2.0 (includes 3.0, 3.5)
      • While this may sound odd, 3.0 and 3.5 versions are actually .NET 2.0 with additional set of libraries, so if you want either 3.0 or 3.5 support, simply select the .Net 2.0 version in your control panel.
        
      • .Net 3.0 and 3.5 SP1 is currently deployed to WEB26, WEB24, WEB22, WEB20, WEB18, WEB16, WEB14, WEB12, and WEB10.
    • .Net 4.0
      • Only available on our Windows 2008 / IIS 7.x hosting servers.
    • Click OK at the bottom of the page to apply any changes.  We recommend you make no other changes to the settings on this page, unless you are familiar with the change and the impact.  Making ill-advised changes in this area of the control panel can result in unwanted consequences to your website hosting.  Always feel free to submit a support request for assistance, information, or for us to make a change for you if you are uncertain of changes you need made and how to make them.

   MANAGED Server/Virtual Server customers notes:

  • Log into your control panel, click on your domain, click SETUP, and scroll to the SERVICES section where you'll find ASP.net versions listed.
  • If your server lists ASP.net 2.0, then it can support ASP.net 3.0/3.5, although they may not be installed (installed by request).   Please contact support (support@3essentials.com) to determine what versions are installed on your server, and to request 3.0/3.5 SP1 to be installed as applicable.
  • .Net 4.0 support will be automatically available on all Managed Servers running Plesk 9.5.3 or better.  If you need .Net 4.0 support and your control panel version is below this, contact our support team requesting an upgrade of your control panel version to a version that supports .Net 4.0.
