3Essentials has the following policy regarding installation/registration of 3rd party components/DLLs or additions to the GAC:

  • Shared hosting
    • In general, 3Essentials does not allow for the installation/registration of 3rd party components/DLLs on it's shared hosting solutions.
      • Exceptions:
      • Persists components (ASPpdf, ASPjpeg), please see article: http://knowledge.3essentials.com/web-hosting/article/526/ASPJpeg-and-ASPpdf-server-components-by-Persists-Software.html
      • 3Essentials will consider and review installation of 3rd party components/DLLs if the component is developed by a reputable and established development company and is of value to a wide cross-section of our customer.  For example, 3Essentials has installed JMAIL, ASPSmartMail, and ASPSmartUpload, as they meet these requirements.  If you require a DLL/component be installed and think it meets this criteria, you may submit a support request asking for review of the component.  3Essentials Engineering and Security team will review the component for suitability and decide if the component will be installed.  Only those components deemed stable, secure, and suitable will be allowed on the server.  3Essentials exclusively reserves the right to determine what is stable, secure, and suitable.  3Essentials will only consider components/DLLs which are developed by an established and reputable company, provide complete documentation, are supported by the development company, and have an active development lifecycle including ongoing bug reporting and fix development.  Please submit a Support ticket requesting the installation of the component.    Your request will be reviewed, and you will be notified if the component/DLL is approved/not-approved for installation.  If approved, 3Essentials will install the component and notify you once completed.
  • MANAGED Virtual or Dedicated Server hosting
    • Because dedicated/virtual servers are dedicated to a single customer, only the customer making the request bears the risk associated with installing 3rd party applications.  3Essentials will still conduct a review for suitability, however the standards are less stringent, and in general, most are allowed.  Virtual/Dedicated hosting customers assume all risk associated with installation of 3rd party applications and components.
    • Please submit a Support ticket requesting the installation of the component.  Please provide links to documentation regarding the type and nature of the component/DLL.  Your request will be reviewed, and you will be notified if the component/DLL is approved/not-approved for installation.  If approved, 3Essentials will install the component and notify you once completed.

All 3Essentials servers should already have the following 3Essentials-approved components.  If for some reason your server does not, please submit a Support ticket requesting the installation of the missing component:

  1. ASPSmartUpload
  2. ASPSmartMail
