The following defines 3Essentials support of MSSQL Full Text Indexing on it's hosting plans:

  • SHARED hosting plans:
    • Full Text Indexing is not supported on 3Essentials shared hosting plans due to resource consumption associated with this function.
    • Shared hosting customers who provide 3Essentials with a database backup from their system to restore to their database hosted on our system, which includes a full text catalog, that catalog will be removed during the process of our restore.
    • If you require Full Text Indexing, review our available Virtual or Dedicated Server plans.  Be sure to choose a plan with MSSQL Express Advanced Services or better, to ensure Fulltext support is included.
  • Virtual/Dedicated Server plans with MSSQL Express:
    • MSSQL Express does not include Full Text support.
  • Virtual/Dedicated Server plans with MSSQL Express with Advanced Services:
    • 3Essentials provides two methods for accessing your database administratively:
      • dbwebadmin: A web-based database admin tool, accessible from your control panel... from which you can execute SQL commands.  You can use this interface to execute transact-sql statements for creating/managing full-text catalogs and indexes.
      • secure db admin: If you purchased it, 3essentials provides an add-on service where you can securely tunnel a connection from SQL Mgmt Studio from your desktop to your MSSQL instance on your server with us.  This allows you to directly manage your database on the server via MSSQL Mgmt Studio on your desktop. For MSSQL Wkgp and above, you can use the MSSQL Mgmt Studio gui, which provides context-based menu options for creating/managing full-text configurations, or to execute transact-sql statements for creating/managing full-text catalogs and indexes.  HOWEVER this support is NOT included in MSSQL Mgmt Studio Express gui.  As a result, your ONLY options are to create/manage full-text components using transact-sql statements.  3Essentials does not provide assistance with SQL/Transact-SQL queries.  Please consult Microsoft's MSSQL Server 2005 documentation for assistance in determining the correct Transact-SQL to properly create/manage full-text objects to meet your specific requirements. The following articles may be of assistance to you:
        • http://support.microsoft.com/kb/916784: describes using the Mgmt Studio Express's "template explorer" to view templated Transact-SQL statements for performing full-text related tasks (including creating an index, etc).  You can use this locally on your PC to help determine what Transact-SQL statements you need to execute.  You can execute those through the dbwebadmin tool (described above) or, if you purchased our secure db admin solution, you can execute those via Mgmt Studio Express connected directly to your server hosted with us.
        • http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms174975.aspx: provides more information about the Transact-SQL statements that you can use to create and manage full-text catalogs and indexes
  • Virtual/Dedicated Server plans with MSSQL Wkgrp or better:
