Problem:
I just added a new domain to my Plesk control panel account on my Windows hosting plan, and everything is working fine except webmail isn't available at webmail.mydomain.com. When trying to access webmail, I see this page/error:
This affects only the following customer types:
-
shared hosting on Windows where Smartermail is the mail server.
-
virtual/dedicated server customers who chose SmarterMail as their mail product on their server.
-
shared hosting customers on older Windows based systems which use Mail Enable, and Dedicated server customers who chose Mail Enable as their mail product, should not be affected by this.
Solution:
This can occur for a couple of different reasons, but the most common is that you have a multi-domain plan, and you did not chose a "domain template" when you created the domain. It's fine to not use a domain template and to select your own options for domains when you add them, however due to customizations we've made to the control panel, the "enable webmail" option is hidden from you, therefore webmail is not enabled for your domain.
To resolve, simply submit a support request stating webmail isn't accessible for your domain, and we'll enable webmail for you.
If you one of the predefined "domain templates" we've created that is available when you add a domain in the control panel, you'd find that webmail is enabled, and should be automatically functional, as we have enabled this option in any of the domain templates we create for customer use.
Additionally, you can even define your own domain template, and while defining it, you'll have the "enable webmail" option available to you to enable in your template (if you do, be sure to choose "smwebmail" for the webmail option)... then any domains you create using that template will webmail properly enabled and functional when the domain is created.
