There is a known issue with the ProtectedURL function not working the first time it is set up on Plesk Control Panels which are versions 7.5.6 and greater. Please submit a support request (email to support@3essentials.com) indicating you have a protectedURL that is not functioning, and the support team can correct the issue for you in short order. Once the problem is corrected the first time, protectedURLs work fine after that.
