With the moving of your website from IIS 6.0 (Plesk 7, 8.5) to IIS 8 (Plesk 12) there are changes in the software platform and what will and will not work.  We have compiled a list of KB articles and placed them here for ease of access.

Issue: How I login to my control panel? or My password for the control panel is not working.

Resolution: Althought the sites have been migrated to a new server, your old URL for accessing the control panel will still work as we have updated DNS to direct requests to the new server. You can also login to MyAccount at  https://accounts.3essentials.com/cad/ and under Plans, launch the control panel from there.

  • If you have forgotten your password or your password is not working, you can use the forgot password link to have an e-mail sent to you with instructions on resetting the password. Please note the following:

  • The e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address you had configured in the control panel. If you do not know the e-mail address configured in the control panel or for some reason do not have access to it, you can contact our suport team to have it changed. Our suport team will only set it to an authorized e-mail address on file on the hosting plan (an e-mail address listed in MyAccount).

  • More information on retrieval of credentials can be found here: http://knowledge.3essentials.com/web-hosting/article/1197/Customer-Credentials-Retrieval.html

Regarding SSL:

Your SSL certificates have been migrated to the. If you find that SSL is not working, login to the Plesk Control Panel and re-eable SSL

Regarding Shared SSL

If your site uses the Shared SSL feature, you may need to re-enable this feature. Login to the Plesk Control Panel, click the Shared SSL link. Here you can re-enable Shared SSL

Issue: I see a 404 error when I browse to http://domain.com/ but the page loads when I browse to http://domain.com/index.php

Resolution: There are two potential causes.

  • If this is a Wordpress site, please see the KB linked below: Troubleshooting: Resolving Common Errors with Wordpress Sites

  • Sometimes the default document search is case sensitive. This is most commone with Wordpress sites. The solution is to remove Index.php from the default document search list and add index.php and put it at the top of the list. See the KB below on How-To Set the default document for a site or virtual directory.

  • There is a php.ini or php-cgi-fcgi.ini file in your site's root directory. This should be renamed or removed as the paths to the PHP executable are located in a different place on this server than on the old server. Futhermore you can manage your PHP settings through the Plesk Control Panel now.

Issue: There is a Plesk default page loading when I browse to my site.

Resolution: The Plesk default page is called index.html. In the default document search order this is usually very in the priority. This means that the web server will serve this page when browing to http://domain.com/ .The solution is to move your page to the top of the list in the search order. See the KB below on How-To Set the default document for a site or virtual directory
